Getting My Sh*t Together with The Happy Planner

I’ll be honest—until recently I was terrible at using planners. I loved to have them and maybe I’d be diligent for the first week or two, but then I’d forget or it’d get lost or I’d just lose the willpower to care about tracking every single day. About a year ago, I started following the studying community online and got a little jealous of all of their amazing planners and organized prettiness. So I did a little research and came up with a possible solution. Luckily, the planner I wanted was having a holiday sale and I convinced The Captain to get it for me for Christmas.

And I’m happy to say that it’s keeping my life on track and I can’t imagine what I’d do without my Happy Planner™! Not only does it come with easy to understand monthly sections, but there are weekly subsections that are organized in a way I love. It goes Monday to Friday and the weekend is in a different color so it’s easy to distinguish between the work week and Saturday/Sunday. There are helpful sections at the beginning of each month for goals, reminders, birthdays, special events, and important dates.

In addition to the well-organized planner, I also have a color-coded marker system that helps me keep track of assignments, appointments, work, chores, and anything that I need to remember. By using different colors I can keep track of a single type of thing or of the events of a single day. I use PaperMate Flair Felt Tip Pens and just expanded my colors because I needed more options to use in the planner (because life demands more than twelve colors).

In addition, I also have the Home Planning section which includes To Do lists, Budget organizer, Meal Planning, and Cleaning schedules. While I haven’t used this section as much as I’d hoped to, I’m warming up to getting organized in those ways as well. The company that makes the Happy Planner™ also makes add-on kits, stickers, post-its, and other fun things to personalize your planner.

I’ve found that using a planner helps me keep track of the multiple things going on: each of my classes, work, appointments, deadlines, this blog, chores, fitness, and anything I want to add. The colors, easy-to-use format, and my own personalization have made this more than just a planner—this is a simple way to get my life down on paper. With my memory problems and forgetfulness lately I need it.

If you’re looking for a way to get your life together, to keep track of school and work, or just need a helpful organizer than I recommend actually using a planner—the Happy Planner™ especially. It can be found in the store at Me & My Big Ideas and there are plenty of options to choose from.

Happy planning!
